P|ART IBIZA launches a new international artistic project which will customize 10 Ibizan hounds sculptures 

Gallery owner Patrizia Longarini, sculptor Andreu Moreno and artist Guido Daniele have come up with this travelling exhibition 

Ibiza will be internationally recognised through art thanks to the travelling exhibition created by photographer Patrizia Longarini, sculptor Andreu Moreno and artist Guido Daniele, who have given life to a project which considers the possibility that artists from different disciplines around the world customize glass fire Ibizan hounds (podencos) created by Moreno. 

“This is an homage to Ibiza, an island that has been and still is a source of inspirations for artists from all over the world and which, now will still be so in its streets and away from the island”, says P|Art Ibiza gallery owner, Patrizia Longarini, who is also one of the artists who has launched this project. 

According to Andreu Moreno: “Initially, Patrizia asked me to design a series of sculptures of Ibizan hounds in a material that could be illustrated and, somehow, I saw myself involved in the organisation of this project of which we have fallen in love with. On the other hand, Guido Daniele (who was one of the promoters of a similar initiative in 2009 with cow-shaped sculptures that travelled around many European capital cities) joined the project since minute one. 

“Like it usually happens in this type of creations, they are alive and, therefore, although at the beginning we planned to give life to ten male Ibizan hounds, there will be eight of them and two female ones to show growth and as a vision of the future”, adds Longarini. Each peace is 1,7 metres high and is located on a platform that represents an Ibiza beach that has been photographed by Longarini herself. 

Internationally renowned painters, photographers, sculptors such Andreu Moreno and Guido Daniele together with Danilo Martinis, RHE, Felipao Art, Miguel Ángel García López, Maurizio Boschieri, Aleandro Roncarà, or Eka Acosta, as well as two students from Ibiza’s Art School (Escola d’Arts d’Eivissa) Janice Santiago and Noelia Romero. 

The aim of this exhibition is to have these works displayed in different iconic places around the island. That is why P|Art Ibiza is holding a series of meetings with representatives of the culture department of Ibiza’s Regional Government and other town councils around the island “to ask for their logistical support so that these sculptures may be in the streets for the enjoyment of all citizens" says Longarini. "We are not asking them for money or subsidies. We only want that our podencos can “walk through Ibiza and show the artistic side of the island”, she concludes. 

In the future, P|Art Ibiza sees this exhibition as a travelling show that may land in other destinations. 

Cultural and solidary aspects 

These ten podencos will be available for business, institutions or private clients “although they will have to be transferred for their exhibition for the established period of time”. Moreover, 15% of their sell price will be donated to Ibiza’s Art School (Escola d’Art d’Eivissa). “Buyers will have the right to see their name engraved on a plaque at the place where they are displayed”, said Longarini, who also added that “they will not only own a piece but they will also be promoting and allowing the growth of Ibiza’s Art School and the development of young talents from the island since, our ultimate aim is to see art forever living in the streets”.
